Stephen J. Raynor, a Dallas based attorney and humanitarian, founded the Former First Lady Library in 2013. Travel to the Philippines exposed Mr. Raynor to the lack of materials the youth of the Philippines had access to for literacy and educational purposes. After discussions with colleagues, family, and friends, both in the United States and in the Philippines, Mr. Raynor’s vision for the library became a reality. Through the organization, Mr. Raynor seeks to improve literacy and educational resources for Philippino youth; while at the same time, encouraging literacy and educational enrichment among American Youth. By naming the library after former American First Ladies, Mr. Raynor wishes to honor a group of inspirational women who are typically not remembered for their global impact.
